On one of our many trips to Wisconsin, we stayed at a great hotel right on Lake Michigan, the Lighthouse Inn. I thought I was just finding a reasonably priced place to stay since our main focus was getting to Green Bay for a Packer game, but this hotel really surprised us!
The Lighthouse Inn is located in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, which is a cute little town by Lake Michigan. Two Rivers has a population of about 11,000. The name comes from two rivers, the East and West Twin Rivers which run together just before flowing into Lake Michigan.
We got an executive Queen room which had a lake view. Our room was quite comfortable with a Queen sized bed, refrigerator, microwave, desk, and recliner. At night we would open the window and listen to the sound of waves hitting the shore. I especially liked it on a windy and stormy evening when the waves were crashing up over the rocks.
We really liked our room, it was a little outdated, but very comfortable. I definitely recommend getting a room on the lakeside with views.
Water’s Edge Restaurant
From our room, we could easily go down the backstairs and out the door to the sidewalk which runs along the lake. This is how we got to the Water’s Edge restaurant each morning. The breakfast was amazing! The best I have ever had at a hotel! We were each given vouchers worth $5 toward breakfast. This would buy a few different options;
- eggs, hash browns, toast, coffee or juice
- french toast, sausage/bacon, coffee or juice
- omelet, toast, coffee or juice
- cranberry-maple nut, or blueberry oatmeal Brulee
These were all very good, or you could pay a little more and get an “everything” omelet or a full breakfast. I had the Oatmeal Brulee one day and it was awesome! We also had a few dinners at the restaurant. All the meals we had there were great! I thought the prices were very reasonable too.
We always had a table by the large picture windows looking out at the lake. I could have sat there all day watching the waves crash against the shore. I found it fascinating how the lake changed when the weather changed.
Pool and Hot Tub
The pool and hot tub area of the hotel were good. I had the pool to myself on a Sunday Afternoon. Once again, it’s a little outdated, but it was clean and the pool was warm. I thought the artwork was interesting and a row of windows looked out on the lake. There was also a sauna.
Lake Michigan
It may not be a 5-star hotel, but we really enjoyed our time there. It was clean, the room was large and comfortable, the pool area was good, the views of Lake Michigan were amazing, and the restaurant was top notch!
It would also be worth your time to explore this great park on Lake Michigan. If you take the short drive south to Manitowoc, you will find the Wisconsin Maritime Museum they have guided submarine tours! Terry took one and will never forget it!
If you find yourself in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, consider staying at the Lighthouse Inn.

What a beautiful place to unwind. I actually like more of a rustic, outdated feel with vacation spots. I always find the people in these areas are more hospitable and friendly. The landscape is beautiful. I would never want to leave, since I’m such a big fan of the ocean.
it is a beautiful place
This looks like a beautiful place. Seems like a place I should add to my travel list.
it is a beautiful place
This looks like fun and the lighthouse is beautiful. My husband and I tend to go to Asheville NC for short weekend. This reminds me of that. I’ll have to keep this place in mind if I am ever in this area. Thanks for sharing!
